The Many Roles of the Internet Marketer

So, you want to be an Internet marketer and make zillions while you sleep. I've got news for you and it begins by telling you that while some people have been very successful marketing on the Internet, a very high percentage never earn sufficient to replace their workplace income. Having got that out of the way, I must add that just because most people never do any good, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't try. You could just be one of the few who do exceptionally well.

If you do try, you will have to adopt a large number of roles that include these:

  1. Manager of your IT systems and operations
  2. Website development and maintenance
  3. Marketing and public relations supremo
  4. Article writer, copywriter and perhaps designer
  5. Email list manager
  6. Bookkeeper
  7. Administration officer ... accounting, purchasing, sales etc
  8. Help desk
  9. Search engine optimization guru
  10. Planner
  11. Organizer
  12. Jack of all trades ... if it needs doing, you do it
If you are wealthy enough to hire people to carry out some or all of these tasks, then you are very lucky. If not, then someone has to do them and it's probably down to you. After all, you are probably a one man band.

You could find a couple of like-minded friends or colleagues to join you in a partnership to share the workload ... several heads (and pairs of hands) are better than one.

Much of the work involved is time-consuming. You therefore must ensure you don't carry out activities that aren't related to earning income. Everything you do should be associated with income. Planning what you want to do and where you want to go will prevent you from doing possibly hours of work just to find that it's of no use.

It can be a lot of fun having your own business, but it's also a lot of work. You should weigh up the pros and cons before you decide to take up Internet marketing or anything else for that matter.

As an internet marketer/emtrepreneur, I know how much work has to be done. It's important to set a schedule for work so that the days don't become 15h and seven days per week as there is always something to do.
